How to use the day counter

  1. Between dates: pick a start and an end date to get the number of days between them. Use Swap if they're the wrong way round.
  2. Days until: pick a future date, or tap a preset like Christmas, to see how many days are left with a live countdown.
  3. Days since: pick a past date to see how many days have passed since then.
  4. Turn on Weekdays only to count working days, and Skip US holidays to leave out federal holidays too.

How days are counted

The day counter subtracts the start date from the end date. From Monday to Friday of the same week is 4 days, because the count starts the day after the start date. This matches how deadlines, notice periods and ages are counted.

Some situations count both the first and the last day, such as hotel nights versus days of a trip, or the length of an event. For those, tick Include end date to add one day.

days = end date − start date (+1 if the end date is included)

Months and years are counted on the calendar, so January 31 to February 28 is 28 days but less than one full month.

Frequently asked questions

How do I count the days between two dates?

Enter a start date and an end date. DayCalcs subtracts the start from the end and shows the total in days, weeks, months and years, plus business days and weekend days. Tick "Include end date" if both the first and last day should count.

Does the day counter include the end date?

By default it counts the days in between, the way deadlines and age are counted: from January 1 to January 2 is 1 day. Tick "Include end date" to count both days, which gives 2 days in that example.

How many days are in a year?

A common year has 365 days and a leap year has 366. Leap years are divisible by 4, except century years, which must be divisible by 400. So 2028 is a leap year, while 2100 is not.

How are business days counted?

Business days are Monday to Friday. With "Skip US holidays" on, the 11 US federal holidays are skipped too, moved to the observed weekday when they fall on a weekend.

How many weeks are between two dates?

Divide the number of days by 7. The day counter shows it as whole weeks plus leftover days, for example 100 days is 14 weeks and 2 days.
